Draftsperson | Residential Construction Location: Blacktown, NSW | Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 + Super | Work Type: Full-time, Permanent (On-site)
About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Draftsperson to join a premier residential builder based in Blacktown. In this role, you will play a key part in translating customer visions into compliant tender, contract, and construction drawings.
Working closely with sales, estimating, and permits teams, you will ensure all plans adhere to strict statutory regulations, internal standards, and structural guidelines while maintaining high accuracy under deadline pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Plan Preparation: Draft complete sets of tender, contract, and construction plans (including site layouts, floor plans, and external elevations) based on sales paperwork and client variations.
Compliance & Site Analysis: Read and interpret Section 10.7 certificates, 88B instruments, and DCP guidelines to ensure optimal siting outcomes and strict authority compliance.
Documentation & Coordination: Incorporate specialist engineering, BASIX, bushfire, flood, hydraulic, and landscaping requirements directly into drawing packages.
RFI & Approvals: Respond efficiently to requests for information (RFIs) from private certifiers and local councils to progress Council/CDC approvals.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Provide clear, accurate documentation for Estimators, coordinate with external structural engineers, and maintain standard NCC compliance throughout.
Quality Assurance: Apply rigorous QA checks to consolidate post-contract variations prior to site start.
Qualifications & Experience
Software Expertise: Proficiency in Revit is required.
Residential Experience: Proven background drafting working drawings within a project home builder or volume residential environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of NSW Council/CDC approval processes, authority guidelines (Section 10.7, 88B, DCP), and the National Construction Code (NCC).
Technical Skills: Strong grasp of residential building structures, framing, and services.
Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, clear communication, and a proactive approach to collaborative problem-solving.
